Johnson’s Game-Winner, Liddell’s 28 Push Ohio State Past Seton Hall
Meechie Johnson, Jr. hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 2.3 seconds left to lead Ohio State past Seton Hall, 79-76, and cap a wild opening game at the Rocket Mortgage Fort Myers Tip-Off.
After a steal and layup by Seton Hall’s Jamir Harris tied the game at 76 with 14 seconds left, Johnson, Jr. hit the game-deciding three to send Buckeye fans into a frenzy. Ohio State forward E.J. Liddell finished with 28 points and six rebounds, and Justin Ahrens contributed a season-high 17 points in the win.
Jared Rhoden led Seton Hall with a career-high 29 points and five rebounds and Bryce Aiken added 16 points and four rebounds to rally the Pirates, who fall to 3-1 on the season.
Ohio State will take on either Cal or Florida in the championship game of the Rocket Mortgage Fort Myers Tip-Off on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. ET. Seton Hall will face either team in the consolation game at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Both games will be televised on FS1.
