Spencer’s Career Night Lifts Wildcats to Rocket Mortgage Fort Myers Tip-Off Title Game
Pat Spencer poured in a career high 23 points on 9 of 12 shooting, leading the way for Northwestern in a convincing 78-51 victory over Bradley in the second semifinal of the Rocket Mortgage by Quicken Loans Fort Myers Tip-Off on Monday night.
In just his fifth career college basketball game, the graduate transfer also recorded eight assists on the night to lead the Wildcat offense to Wednesday’s championship game. Miller Kopp and Ryan Young each finished with 13 points to pace the Northwestern offense, which shot nearly 53 percent from the field for the game.
The win sets up a Northwestern-Pitt showdown in the championship game of the Rocket Mortgage Fort Myers Tip-Off. The matchup will feature two head coaches, Chris Collins and Jeff Capel, who were teammates and assistant coaches at Duke earlier in their careers. It will be the first matchup between the two when they meet on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. ET.
Elijah Childs led the way for Bradley with 14 points, while Darnell Brown finished with 13.
Bradley will face K-State in the third-place game of the Rocket Mortgage Fort Myers Tip-Off at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, leading in to the Tournament title game at 8:30 p.m. Both games will be televised by FS1.
